Gear Up: Beach & Boat Fishing Essentials
Beach Fishing (Amateur-Friendly)
Rod & Reel: A simple 3-4 m spinning rod with 10-15 lb line handles most shore-side catches.
Terminal Tackle: Basic bottom-rig with sinkers, swivels and a couple of hooks (sizes 2–4).
Bait: Fresh shrimp or squid (available at local tackle shops) or artificial jigs for bass.
Extras: A bucket for your catch, pliers for hook removal, and, of course, sunscreen!
Boat & Game Fishing (Advanced)
Trolling Rods: Heavy 20-50 lb outfits with outriggers.
Jigging Gear: Metallic jigs (80-200 g) for deeper water techniques.
Electronics: Fishfinder/GPS units on most charter boats.
Safety: Lifejackets and a brief orientation are provided by reputable charter operators.
Shore Sessions: No Experience Required
Even if you’ve never held a rod, you can cast from the rocky headlands or golden coves just a few minutes’ walk from here or even just in front of Sirius Apartments in Neos Marmaras. Local shops sell rods and tackle and amateur equipment in almost every corner of the village and staff are happy to share their favorite spots.
